Bergamo House

A previous client enlisted our expertise to help them navigate through the construction process of their new home. This included the selection of: plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops, hardware, trim, appliances, etc. And once construction was completed, the next phase of our services was to furnish the home.

The client desired a simple interior that was open, welcoming, and comfortable. We suggested a California bungalow theme that is synonymous with white stucco walls, soft arch openings, wood beams and iron accents. Our goal was to assemble all of the appropriate elements and furnishings to capture the essence of the classic California bungalow… with a modern twist.

We started by simplifying the interior color palette with snow-white walls and trim, grounded by a hickory wood floor. For contrast and interest, solid wood beams were specified to run the entire width of the home. The beams were designed to cut through the arched openings to give the illusion they were a structural architectural element. The span of the beams visually expanded the width of the interior space and tied the main living areas together.

For furnishings and decor, we embraced the neutral color palette and added touches of grays and a kiss of blush, and incorporated a few select pieces of furniture from the client’s previous home. The rest of the furnishings were specifically chosen to convey the casual elegance the client was seeking. By mixing traditional, antique and modern pieces, we created a curated look that is sophisticated, yet has an ease to it that encourages one to relax and enjoy the home.
